Home Business Ideas for Beginners I

Posted by: | Comments (0)

You are new to internet marketing and you need some advice on how to start. You are not alone, and here are some home business ideas for beginners to the big, big, world of internet marketing.

The fact that you are new to this business does not necessarily imply that you do not have a product. In fact most people who enter into internet marketing with their eyes open either have a product to sell or an idea for one. However, let’s assume that you have none and are looking for a quick entry into this fascinating industry. What are the possibilities?

In order to make the most of internet marketing you need your own product. While you are working on it, you can make money selling other people’s products. There is more than one way to do this. The first is affiliate marketing whereby you sell another person’s product for a commission. Although you can sell hard goods and soft electronically delivered goods, the best commission deals are with the electronically deliverable goods such as software and ebooks. You can sell the same product time and time again, whereas with hard goods there are material and delivery costs involved with every item.

Typical commissions for hard goods are 5% – 10%, whereas those for electronic goods such as software or ebooks are around 50%. That’s right. You typically earn 50% for every ebook you sell. That is why affiliate marketing is a technique of choice by many internet marketers who have no intention of producing their own product other than an ebook relating to others how they did it.

Building Your Own Business

Kamyar Shah asked:

Thinking of starting your own business? If so, and you have done any further looking into the details, you may be shocked at how all the little things can add up quickly. Business start-ups can be especially pricey when the owner is building from the ground up, rather than acquiring an existing business.

There can be pros and cons to building a business from scratch as well as to purchasing an existing building.

The pros for building from scratch are that the owner or partners can strategize and customize each detail from the buildings appearance to the location to the niche they will fall into. Building from scratch and starting fresh also means that an owner will not have to battle against any negative publicity or bad reputation an existing business may have had.

Some of the cons of building from scratch are the initial costs. The devil is in the details and things like building and construction licensing, permits, purchasing inventory, advertisements, liquor licensing (if the business is a restaurant or bar) and considerably more than these things will break the bank if an owner does not keep a close eye on cost. It is easy to make small upgrades or changes here and there, but the total bill should be kept within a pre-set budget. Other cons of the building from scratch may be that no name has been made for this business. An owner has to start spreading the word about the business and will most likely have direct competition from businesses who have been there for years and built a loyal customer base.

One of the decisions that many new business owners and well-seasoned business owners alike agree on is commercial property management.

Some business owners use commercial property management services as your realtor and ask them to locate an ideal space to rent. This is a great idea because most real estate agents are in touch with properties for sale, and may not have the right connections for commercial rental property. Commercial property management businesses can easily provide a new business owner with a list of available space for leasing.

Leasing a space for your business is a smart way to offset the costs of building from scratch and a safe way to protect yourself from ending up with a possible money pit. Leased space should include an agreement between the commercial property management company and the tenant to guarantee the tenant with basic things such as available power, gas, water and maintenance of the building. These things can save a business owner money, should something need repair.

On the other hand, the pros for purchasing an existing business are that the time from acquisition to opening the doors to the public is usually less than a few weeks. This means almost zero time spent in construction. Purchasing the right business can be a great turn key experience for a new business owner. Other cons may be that the business you are purchasing is in financial trouble.

The cons for purchasing an existing business are that you may have to sacrifice a little location. The business is probably already established in a building and moving the location can be as costly as building from scratch.

Commercial property management agencies still come in handy for business owners that want to purchase an existing business. They may have listings of businesses for sale or know of them before they go on the market.

Gary Denton asked:

Business games are used by corporate entities to teach some basic team building skills to their employees. One of the most important things cited by fortune five hundred companies is the ability for their employees to be able to work as part of an effective team. Using business games can teach employees how to be a productive part of a team. These types of games can be a great way to loosen everyone up and really get them to participate and interact with each other in a positive setting.

Often times big corporations will send their employees on retreats where they all spend the weekend together having fun and getting to know each other. During these retreats the employees are encouraged to participate in team building activities.

Coaches

Some companies bring in coaches instead of sending their employees on retreats. The employees are all gathered together and sit through symposiums and lectures by coaching professionals that institute the business games as a learning model to teach new business models theories and ideas.

The goal is to make the experience pleasant while teaching the employees a new concept. The games are typically not very competitive but are instead geared toward facilitating team work. There is usually a small prize offered for the successful participants.

These coaches are paid high sums of money to help struggling companies turn themselves around.

Types Of Games

The games that are used can follow several different models. They might be laid out in a game show type model where there are “contestants” that compete with each other with the help of their team. Some business games are more physical and require the teams to get down and dirty. Some games are merely video games.

Usually the games regardless of the model that they follow are very rarely geared toward the individual they are almost always geared toward team effort. They are a great creative way for people to get to know each other and learn to work together effectively.

Goals Of The Games

The goals of the games are to teach team pride and to teach people how to rely on each other for success. These are great learning tools and they foster a sense of spirit and moral among the team members. Some of the business games will make the supervisors the subordinates and the subordinates the supervisors to give everyone a chance to walk in the other persons shoes.

Business games are an effective way of allowing employees to not only blow off a little steam but to take away with them a sense of team pride and some new knowledge.
