How will Obama have more money if he doesn’t use public financing?
Bypistonsftw12 asked:
I’ve been reading on a lot of sites that Obama will have more money on hand come October and November than McCain.
I’ve been reading on a lot of sites that Obama will have more money on hand come October and November than McCain.
But i don’t understand how he would if he is only taking donations
and McCain is taking donations PLUS public financing.

I am ready for that 10 million credit line that was attached with Rev.Wrights home purchased by Trinity to surface here…

Obama has 1.5 million donors on his call list plus will probably add a lot of former Hillary supporters. McCain doesn’t have anywhere near this number.
If McCain takes public financing he cannot take donations.
However, this is a bit misleading because the RNC can still take donations to be spent on McCain’s behalf and indipendent 527 organizations can take donations and spend it on McCain’s behalf.

the candidates are limited to a smaller amount if they take public money…
Obama can generate a lot more money from all the millions of small donations he has been getting from private donors.

The same way he is collecting funding now, from all of us who contribute a few bucks here and there month after month to get the candidate elected that we want, and without the Washington, DC rhetoric that hurts our chances. Like have you no knowledge of what $5 to $50 bucks times 2,000,000 will do to McCain on a monthly basis? It kills him.

Thing is McCain is earning as MUCH money as Obama by donations.
Something like, every $10 McCain gets….Obama earns $200!!!
HA!
McCain needs the Funding, Obama doesn’t, I sent Obama my whole life’s savings. Just kidding, but he’s racking in major buxx!!

There is a limit on how much you are allowed to spend, overall, that is a condition of getting the funding. The idea is to keep the presidency by being ‘bought’ by donations and advertising. This is more a Democrat idea than a GOP idea, and McCain’s sponsoring this bill is one of the things conservatives hold against him.
However, Obama said he would, then when he got enough money that the cap would actually hit him (as wasn’t anticipated when he committed to it) he backed out.
It isn’t anything a lot of other politicians wouldn’t do, it is just that Obama has been portraying himself as not being that kind of politician.

If you accept public financing of a campaign, you agree to accept that in lieu of private donations.
Plus, even if McCain could take both (what would be the point of offering free money if there were no limitations? Think about it), Obama can probably raise twice the amount of federal funding McCain will get for the entire general election, and can do that in a single month.

He is taking a stand against the use of tax payer money to fund the general election. This is an admirable move. I’m an Obama supporter. I don’t want my tax dollars going to help support McCain.

Because people are STILL supporting Obama on a consistent basis.
McCain’s supporters must be waiting until November to start donating to his campaign.

Why does he need money? Most of the media is in love with him! And they don’t even know him! But, if he gets in we’ll all get to know him, his wife and all the garbage that will come with them.

Because Obama is being financed by wealthy (and by wealthy, I mean billionaire type wealthy) foreign families.
If you take the public money, it opens you up to scrutiny about how you are spending your money, which would open Obama’s campaign to all kinds of questions about where the rest of his money is *really* coming from.
He has already spent far more than the money he has purportedly collected form his “millions of $5 donations.” Approximately 85% of all of his new voter registratiosn have been prved to be fake.
Eventually, it will all become known. I just hope it happens before all of the Obama unquestioning zombies get him elected.
Folks! Do your own due diligience! Get the facts from unbiased sources! Attempt to prove to yourself what you beleive! Open your mind and go look for yourself!

He has the rich and famous on his side. One is Oprah Winfrey and etc. He’s trying to prove he can do it without our money but the rich do control this country and he’s part of that culture. “Obama will do anything for a vote”!!

Because McCain only raised $100M throughout the primaries and up til now. Obama raised about $270M just in the primaries. He stands to raise that and more in the general. Even with the $85M from public financing, McCain still may not raise as much as Obama.

This sound’s like Obama is going all out to buy the election…don’t really see the change he is preaching here…If he has more voters…he will win….isn’t this $$$ thing just like allways? I know about some of the cost of running for office…so don’t slam me…I also know that when someone gives you money…they have an expectation of some kind of return…this is what’s so wrong with lobbyist….and the last few decades of politic’s as usual…the money get’s respect while the voters get neglect. Noticed how the government awards every contract to the lowest bidder…why is this different? since all news sources are 24/7 coverage of candidates…Why do they need to spend 100 million or more for the primaries alone? I am seriously astounded that Americans still think throwing money will change anything for the better…And I am re-looking at Mr Paul as real change.
