Manning opinion of the individual is the height of cynicism. His view of the individual / consumer is so low that he thinks that he does not or they resist the temptation of excessive greed, much less rationally even remotely capable of exercising it, critical thinking, that it can in the direction of much-needed guidance self – restraint. No, for Manning, the individual is nothing more than a lamb led to slaughter innocent as the credit card. Unfortunately, in this book is the personal autonomy for the abdication of personal responsibility. Apparently Manning (as the people she claims), prefer the easy path of victimization on the path of responsibility and action. Rating: 1 / 5

First, do not buy or read this book. However, all comments have motivated me to ask what all these people thought before reading the book. Obviously, the content to explain what happens when people things that they do not pay to borrow money at exorbitant interest rates for limited purchase. I do not understand why credit card companies get the bum rap. The perpetrator of all this seems to be ignorance of the consumer sheep. I think everyone who is rich enough and educated enough to go to college should be able to understand the borrowing by excessive interest rates, they can not really afford to buy stupid. Or is it just me? Anyway, I need a book by a sociologist to tell me. Rating: 3 / 5

I think I’m tired of reading books make people humanities, are also too detailed. This book is no exception. This book could have been much shorter if the author could not repeat itself, and wrote in a less detallado.Hay few little things and interesting information in the book, but not usually worth reading. The basic thesis of this book if you need to be said is that credit card companies are fleecing America and the evil way with him, and that the “Revolver”, the interests of each month, take over their credit cards as well, idiots. Oh, after wading through the whole book, I would not recommend it to others, even those who apply on the theme of passion. While the material is well written and well documented, the author does not seem to do in the situation, the subject alive, or write to efficiently and effectively. The total yield is about olvidables.Claro is an important issue, but to do after the first twenty pages or so, more or less “things” and all of those stories and graphics that has essentially according superfluo.Manning certainly a bone to . pluck And while they agree with the position of almost everything that I could not shake the feeling that they are less confiable.A issue makes the drawing, there does not seem to go Puritan ideas of saving, pay-as-you – shows the shame of bankruptcy, etc., nothing but contempt for the scandalous way the world these days seems to work. At the end I felt this book much more effective as a lament for the lost virtue of prudence as a sober analysis of the consequences of America’s addiction to credit. ” Almost all of their “case studies” are negative, for example. Nevertheless, it was ruined by his careless use of plastic. Just so irresponsible living by what momento.Pero de-emphasizes budget – or even ignored – are the many cases in which credit cards often allow members of the lower class to finish their studies, changing jobs, always pay some unforeseen difficulties liberate , etc., and then later, bitter, or maybe even Chapter 10 in the trash. No, everything is being pushed aside in favor of concentrating on how the shameful behavior of all es.En sum: not so full of interesting ideas and facts, as I thought it would. And then, what “facts”, the book has to offer, unfortunately, are so gentle and biased that could probably be explained, at least in broad one, that it is precisely the position of the author, without informing been reading the book itself. Well, the question of the chicken and the egg: we are the victims of the infiltration of credit cards every aspect of our lives, or simply not the responsibility? I admit, after the debt until recently, I was so in time. Of course, the people have to make their own decisions. I feel that I can hardly credit card companies to blame. However, this is a fascinating book about the solvency and how it fits in all tissues that we raised as the American dream. Growing leaps and bounds late in the 19th Century to the present. I saw Dr. Manning on C-Span 2 World Book Day and seeing him speak made me want to buy this book. While we can not always blame others for our mistakes not, it’s time we took a look at your credit card companies, the marketing techniques in the universities? Here, where I fell into my trap. Mr. Manning is researching this phenomenon, which is largely untapped in many books, very good. There are some dry statistics, but overall presents a history of credit card. Granted, the company and not in debt. They also give very little of their funds for charitable purposes, doing charity events. It is possible, even very little money now in the relief efforts from the recent tragedy. Some people look to books like this (a reviwer looked especially), but the numbers do not lie. Debt continues to grow. It seems that, unfortunately, many people still need this book. You may need it, and the like. From what I see, Mr. Manning, to do justice to how and why do credit card companies to market than they are. Stories that resonate with you. Remove something from them. That could be you or someone you love. To have this intention, we need more writers like Mr. Manning. Rating: 5 / 5
